Important Dates & Deadlines
Mark your calendar with these key dates for the 2024 General Election:
- Early in-person voting takes place from October 22–November 1 at the Salt Lake County Government Center, and from October 29–November 1 at satellite locations. Find locations and hours.
- October 25: Last day to register to vote and receive a by-mail ballot.
- October 29: Last day to request a by-mail ballot.
- November 4: Mailed ballots must be postmarked by this date.
- November 5: Election Day! Polls close at 8 pm. Be sure to return your ballot before then, but we encourage you to vote early if possible. Find an election day vote center, or find a ballot drop box near you.
Register to Vote
Registering to vote in Utah is quick and easy. Head to vote.utah.gov—or check out the Salt Lake County Clerk’s website. Both are great resources where you can register, update your info, and get all the details you need about upcoming elections.
There are three requirements to vote in Utah:
1. You must be a U.S. citizen.
2. You need to have lived in Utah for at least 30 days before the election.
3. You need to be at least 18 by Election Day.
What’s on the ballot
You’ll see a variety of races this year:
- Federal Offices like U.S. President, Senate, and House of Representatives.
- State Offices such as Governor, Attorney General, State Senate, and House of Representatives.
- County Offices such as County Mayor, Council members, and other Salt Lake County elected officials.
- Depending on where you live, you may have local school board races.
- Judicial Retention where you’ll vote on retaining or removing judges.
- Ballot Measures and Constitutional Amendments that impact local laws, taxes, bonds, and more.
